The Copper Tower
Once the castle of the Overseer Itzyoyotl, the Obsidian Heart. It fell into ruin when she was imprisoned in the dream lands by other Overseers for unspecified crimes. After the shattering, only the old stone crypts survived, and this is where her prison sarcophagus rested until recently.
Villagers discovered the crypt a 150 years later, and after being exposed to a mysterious purple goo emanating from the sarcophagus, they became susceptible to Itzyoyotl's influence in their dreams. Under her control they began waylaying travelers and feeding them into the sarchophagus, slowly increasing Itzyoyotl's strength.
It is difficult to say what would have happened if they had not been interrupted by hired thugs from their feudal overlords, when their dream possessed behavior caused them to default on their obligations.
The mercenaries cleared out the denizens of the crypt and discovered the sarcophagus, which was later transferred to the catacombs below the Ontei-Sûlét breweries.
The tower in the dreamlands¶
The dream prison version of the tower is a series of interconnected areas, representing the fragmented memories of Itzyoyotl. She is aware of everything that happens in her prison but is not omnipresent.
While it has not been fully explored, adventures were able to visit many of the areas to gains some idea of the layout.
The tower is surrounded by an endless dark plain below a lightning torn sky. Below the tower lies the oubliettes, and the blood drains, filled with slaves and vicious guards. These areas are the least detailed, filled with faceless shadowy guards and slaves, perhaps reflecting that Itzyoyotl rarely visited these places and had only a shadowy recollection of them.
Further up lay an enormous kitchen ruled by a monstrous fat chef and guarded by giant beetle-like armoured knights.
Still further up lay a magical library and laboratory, where adventurers were able to glean that most of the research seemed to be about exploiting the energy trapped by the binding of objects between different dimensions of existence.
